Welcome to Let's Compose!, a site dedicated to enabling composers to collaborate and produce even more beautiful music.
Our current projects include “XML Music Lily”, a Firefox extension that uses xml2ly and Lilypond to render MusicXML as beautifully printed sheet music, “Let's Compose! Collaborator”, a Finale plugin that enables two or more composers to work on the same piece at the same time, a similar modification to MuseScore, an opensource music editor, and “Music Room”, a publicly accessible version control system where composers may store and collaborate on compositions.
The general public may also listen to files stored in the music room, so long as they are not marked private. In other words, this site is for listeners just as much as it is for composers.
We will most likely offer two versions of Music Room: A “free edition”, with a limited amount of available space and bandwidth, and a “professional edition”, probably around $5/month, with unlimited (or nearly unlimited) space and bandwidth, as well as extra features. You will likely need to know how to use the CVS or subversion version control systems to utilize the free edition of Music Room. The Premium edition will still allow you to upload directly to version control, but will also provide a graphical interface.
Let's Compose! Collaborator will cost approximately $20 to purchase. Discounts will probably be given to nonprofits and academia. Site licenses are available.
We do provide support, but you should check our Wiki first, as it is probably much more comprehensive and accessible.
Our first project to near completion is music room. You may use this as both a version control hosting service and a place to showcase your compositions. The pieces in the “listen” section are user-published pieces from the Music Room. If you'd like to publish a piece yourself, you may do so by signing up for music room and clicking the “publish new song” link on your user page.
